Bulluraj Mutum, UX designer

A UX designer who designs thoughtful experiences that make complex things feel simple.

Introduction

A firm believer in “Design is to care.”

I’m a UX designer based in Pune. My work sits between research and craft: I spend time with the people a product is actually for, map where the friction really lives, and then design the flows, the interface and often the brand that carries it.

Away from the brief, I make posters when I should be sleeping.

I’m currently open to product and UX design roles.

— What I do

  1. User Research

Interviews, field visits and synthesis that turn scattered observations into a problem statement worth designing against.

  2. Product Design

End-to-end flows, wireframes, interfaces and prototypes — built as a system rather than a set of one-off screens.

  3. Brand & Identity

Naming, logo, colour and type that give a product a voice and make it feel like it belongs to someone.

Tools

Where everything starts and most of it ends. Wireframes, UI, and the moodboards you just scrolled past.

— My journey so far

  1. Until 7th standard Manipur Grew up and went to school at Heritage Convent.
  2. 7th standard Guwahati, Assam Moved to Kaziranga English Academy.
  3. 9th standard IIT Mandi, Himachal Pradesh A 14-day Ishan Vikas camp, and my first look at the world of JEE.
  4. Until 10th standard Back to Guwahati Finished school at Kaziranga English Academy.
  5. 2018 – 2020 Sri Chaitanya, Bengaluru 11th–12th, preparing for JEE. It never felt like mine.
  6. 2020, COVID Back to Manipur Taught myself Photoshop on YouTube, did a multimedia course at Pointrex and made logos and menus for friends. Design felt like a career, but I was torn between it and JEE, and career counselling pointed me to engineering.
  7. 2020 – 2024 Jain University, Bengaluru B.Tech in Computer Science, which I didn't enjoy. A remote graphic design internship at Acowale got me learning UX design.
  8. 2024 – 2025 IIIT-Bangalore A schedule clash meant I missed the MIT-ID interview, so I took a drop year and completed the Advanced Certification in UX Design.
  9. 2025 – 2027 MIT-ID, Pune M.Des in User Experience Design. Where I am now.
